Recap: Aztec Tigers vs. Miyamura Patriots

The Aztec Tigers can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Miyamura and snuck past 38-35. The win was just what Aztec needed coming off of a 61-31 defeat in their prior match.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Aztec to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nika Mckenzie, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jazzlyn Gomez, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Laurn Begay, who scored eight points. Kaytoinette Ross was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

The victory got Aztec back to even at 10-10. As for Miyamura, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

Aztec will be playing at home against Bloomfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Bloomfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday. As for Miyamura, they will head out on the road to take on Gallup at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Miyamura will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Mexico Rankings (they are ranked 69th, while Gallup is ranked 11th).
