Basketball Recap: Lake Wales Comes Up Short

Lake Wales suffered their biggest defeat since December 13, 2024 on Friday. They were outmatched by the Bartow Yellow Jackets and fell 85-48. The Highlanders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-14.

When it comes to explaining why Lake Wales lost, don't look at Bradley Auguste. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds. Auguste has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more boards the last three times he's played.

Even though they lost, Lake Wales smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matches.

Bartow found their leader in sophomore Messiah Borders, who went 9 for 19 on his way to 23 points and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Brinson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
