Basketball Recap: Northside Christian Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Northwood Academy

Northside Christian Academy extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-4. They received a blow as they fell 85-66 to the Northwood Academy Chargers. On the bright side, the 66- point effort marked the Crusaders' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Despite the defeat, Northside Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sam Taylor shot 58% from the field en route to 20 points and five rebounds. Those 58% shooting accuracy set a new season-high mark for Taylor. The team also got some help courtesy of Mac Jackson, who posted 12 points and eight boards.

As for Northwood Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points over those games.

Jacair Medlock had an outrageously good game as he went 7-for-14 to rack up 18 points and six steals. He is becoming a predictor of Northwood Academy's success: when he posts at least three steals the team is 2-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Elyjah Oler was another key player, shooting 67% from the field on his way to 13 points and five assists.

Coming up, Northside Christian Academy will take on Wilson Hall in a tournament on Friday. As for Northwood Academy, they will host Burke at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
