Preview: Southwest Wildcats vs. Braymer Bobcats
After two games on the road, Southwest is heading back home. They will take on the Braymer Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 56-20, which was the final score in Southwest's tilt against Orrick on Thursday. Southwest has not had much luck with Orrick recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Grant Warren was Southwest's leading scorer, having posted eight points.
Breckyn Volker held things down on the boards with seven rebounds. Volker took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Meanwhile, Braymer came up short against Maysville on Saturday and fell 59-52.
Despite their loss, Braymer saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Carter Shoe, who scored 13 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals, was perhaps the best of all. Shoe is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Dakota Brandon was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 9 rebounds.
The losses dropped Southwest to 0-3 and Orrick to 1-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Southwest have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Braymer struggles in that department as they've been even better at 35 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
