Softball Recap: Medicine Lodge Indians vs. Conway Springs Cardinals
Medicine Lodge lost against Conway Springs on Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Indians fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 9-8. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Adalynn Cope spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Claire Cunningham and Avalon Theis stepped up to the plate in a big way. Cunningham went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Theis got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Cunningham's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmy Gerdes, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Medicine Lodge's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Conway Springs, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-5.
