Lamesa strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past the Crosbyton Chiefs 75-16. While the Tornadoes didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-23), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Lamesa's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mariela Gonzales, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 15 steals. Gonzales is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Bella Barron, who almost dropped a double-double with 24 points and nine assists.

Lamesa was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

Lamesa's victory bumped their record up to 8-0.

Looking ahead, Lamesa will look to defend their home court on Monday against Clovis at 6:15 p.m. As for Crosbyton, they will head out on the road to challenge Anton at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
