Baseball Recap: Bayside Comes Up Short

Bayside made up a huge gap compared to their last game against First Colonial, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Marlins fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday. The Marlins have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Bayside got a good showing from Zackery Schilmoeller, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Schilmoeller has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bayside saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Barry Farias Jr, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Bayside's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for First Colonial, the victory (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 19-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bayside will square off against Princess Anne at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cavaliers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Marlins' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for First Colonial, they will challenge Kellam at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Patriots 1.8, the Knights 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
