Basketball Recap: Verona Takes a Loss

Verona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Hurley Tigers and fell 56-17. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Wildcats, who fell 51-48 when the teams last met back in January of 2024.

Hurley was led to victory by Jaema Schimmels and Madison Conrad. Schimmels went 8-for-15 to rack up 23 points and five rebounds, while Conrad dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards. What's more, Schimmels also posted a 53% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024. Hayden Young was another key player, putting up five points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Verona's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Hurley, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Verona has already played their next game (against New Covenant Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Hurley also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Wheaton.
