With a playoff win on the line, Newton rose to the challenge on Thursday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 70-10 victory over New Diana. The result was nothing new for Newton, who have now won nine contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

Deldrick Samuel continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 259 yards and three scores, while also catching a pair of touchdowns. Those 259 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Kendray Porter also helped with three TDs in total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Newton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 348 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 177 rushing yards in nine consecutive games.

Another reason for the win was Newton's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Justin Bray was especially locked on to New Diana's QB and sacked him twice.

Newton's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.7 points on average over those games. As for New Diana, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

As of now, neither Newton nor New Diana have any future games scheduled.
