Softball Game Preview: Wheeler Eagles vs. East Union Urchins

Wheeler is 0-3 against East Union since February of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Wheeler Eagles will challenge the East Union Urchins at 2:15 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Wheeler lost 15-5 to Mantachie on Friday.

Meanwhile, East Union faced Hernando in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. East Union came up short against Hernando, falling 16-3. The contest marked the Urchins' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

East Union saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josie Mae Bell, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Ali Cooper also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

East Union's loss ended an 18-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Wheeler, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Wheeler suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to East Union in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Can Wheeler avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
