Basketball Recap: Carlisle County Comes Up Short

Carlisle County lost against Mayfield on December 9th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Carlisle County Comets received a blow as they fell 51-34 to the Mayfield Cardinals. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Carlisle County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gracyn Edging posted 13 points. Those 13 points gave Edging a new career-high.

Even though they lost, Carlisle County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Carlisle County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Mayfield, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Carlisle County will host Livingston Central at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Mayfield, they and Caldwell County will face off at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
