Basketball Recap: King's Academy Comes Up Short

King's Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 65-39 to the South Plantation Paladins. The contest marked the Lions' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why King's Academy lost, don't look at Javian Jones. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 14 on his way to 20 points. That was a full 51.3% of King's Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah McCoy, who had four points and ten rebounds.

South Plantation got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Travis Chin out in front who went 9 of 15 on his way to 18 points. Chin is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Marc Vincent, who put up ten points and three steals.

King's Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for South Plantation, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. King's Academy will take on St. John Paul II Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Plantation, they will venture away from home to take on Nova at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
