Volleyball Recap: Bayside Academy Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Auburn + How To Watch

Bayside Academy faced Auburn in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Admirals put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 3-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Admirals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Bayside Academy was especially dominant in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-15, 25-17.

Bayside Academy was led to victory by Mary Katherine Whitehurst and Julia Savage. Whitehurst had 15 digs and six aces, while Savage had four digs and four aces. Whitehurst has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more digs the last ten times she's played. Amelia Kok also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Bayside Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in seven consecutive matchups.

Bayside Academy pushed their record up to 24-13 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Auburn, their loss dropped their record down to 23-13.

Bayside Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Lawrence County on the 10th. Auburn does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
