Softball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Chilton County's Winning Streak

Chilton County dropped their record down to 28-7-2 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (12-1), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

Chilton County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Macey Pierce, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Oak Mountain, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-15 record this season. The victory was nothing new for Oak Mountain as they're now sitting on three straight.

On Oak Mountain's side, Kelsey Crain spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. Crain has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brooke Monosky and Sheridan Andrews did most of the damage at the plate: Monosky got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one double, while Andrews went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base. That's the most hits Andrews has posted since back in March.

Looking ahead, Chilton County will be playing at home against Stanhope Elmore at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Oak Mountain, they will be taking part in a tournament against Curry at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
