Volleyball Recap: Lake Nona Comes Up Short

Lake Nona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks.

The 2-1 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by two points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-23, 15-13.

Rylan Beard paced Lake Nona's offense, picking up 14 kills. Beard got some help from Zack Dehaan and his 28 assists.

Lake Nona's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Archbishop McCarthy, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-12.

Lake Nona wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against West Port on the 5th. As for Archbishop McCarthy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 win against University on the 5th.
