Baseball Recap: Vanden Starts Season with Loss at Home

Vanden unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fairfield Falcons on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 9-7 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Vanden got a good showing from Ryan Watson, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Looking ahead, Vanden will host Armijo at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fairfield, they will head out to face off against Cordova at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
