Volleyball Recap: Alton Comes Up Short

Alton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 2-0 to the Belleville West Maroons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Maroons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in September.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-16.

Belleville West was led to victory by Mia Leech and Addie Trankle. Leech had six digs and two aces, while Trankle had six digs and two assists. That's the most digs Leech has posted since back in September.

Alton's loss dropped their record down to 9-22. As for Belleville West, they moved to 10-17 with that victory, which also ended their four-match losing streak.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Alton is set to face off against their familiar foe Belleville East at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Belleville West will square off against rival East St. Louis at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
