Baseball Game Preview: Bishop Montgomery Knights vs. Cerritos Dons

The Bishop Montgomery Knights will take on the Cerritos Dons at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Bishop Montgomery's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Cerritos' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Bishop Montgomery's offense. They fell 5-0 to Cathedral on Tuesday.

Bishop Montgomery saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harrison Howe, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Cerritos had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Titans as they made off with a 9-3 victory. That's two games straight that the Dons have won by exactly six runs.

Jacob Hoosac looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Braxton Reed was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Justin Sagun, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Cerritos' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Montgomery, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
