Baseball Game Preview: Nathan Hale Rangers vs. Edison Eagles

For the second straight game, Nathan Hale will face off against Edison. The Rangers will square off against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Nathan Hale has given up an average of 12.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Nathan Hale managed to slip by Edison the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Rangers lost 11-0 to the Eagles on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Rangers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

For Edison's part, Ben Garner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Garner a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Edison: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-12 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Beckett Greteman, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Linken Frank, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

The win (which was Edison's fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Nathan Hale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 15 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.
