Baseball Recap: North Forsyth Takes a Loss

North Forsyth extended their losing streak to 12 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-14 in the process. They came up short against the Morehead Panthers, falling 17-2. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, with their most recent loss being a 16-1 defeat on Thursday.

Aaron Johnston was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of North Forsyth's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-13 when he doesn't). Jeremiah Squire also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for Morehead, they pushed their record up to 11-13 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games.

On Morehead's side, Reed Christman looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. What's more, Christman posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ben Wade, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jacob Sands, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

North Forsyth does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Morehead, they will challenge Walkertown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolfpack's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
