Baseball Recap: Waipahu Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Waipahu waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Kaimuki Bulldogs with a sharp 17-1 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Marauders also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2023.

Ryden Nishimoto looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Mikah Noda was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jessi Martos, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Waipahu hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matchups.

Waipahu's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Kaimuki, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Waipahu will head out to square off against Nanakuli at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Kaimuki, they will host Castle at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
