Football Recap: Academy of Our Lady of Peace's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Two + How To Watch

If Mission Bay wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Academy of Our Lady of Peace, they should've done a better job of containing Sammy Gehler. The Pilots managed a 31-27 victory over the Buccaneers on Tuesday with plenty of help from Gehler, who threw for 330 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.2 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 38 yards and one TD. She also deserves a shoutout for her performance on D, making one tackle and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

Despite the loss, Mission Bay saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mia Siqueiros rushed for 181 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 10.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 239 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 75.8% of her passes. Siqueiros showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 50 yards. A healthy portion of Siqueiros' aerial production (109 yards to be exact) went to Valerie Young, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.

The win made it two in a row for Academy of Our Lady of Peace and bumps their season record up to 3-5. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.5 points over those games. As for Mission Bay, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-7-1.

Academy of Our Lady of Peace didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 33-25 defeat against Westview on the 11th. As for Mission Bay, they have also already played their next contest, a 24-12 win against Hoover on the 11th.
