Basketball Game Preview: Perry Commodores vs. Elgin Comets

Perry is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Thursday. They will square off against the Elgin Comets at 7:30 p.m.

Perry is leaving town to face Elgin after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Commodores had to suffer through an 81-5 loss at the hands of St. John's.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Elgin on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Vanlue out of the water with a 61-22 final score. The Comets have beaten the Wildcats the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wildcats has come to flipping the script.

Perry couldn't quite get it done against Elgin in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 as they fell 53-40. Thankfully for the Commodores, Samantha Girton (who went 8-for-16 to rack up 20 points along with seven assists and three steals) won't be suiting up this time.
