Softball Recap: Oak Harbor Beats Notre Dame Academy for Their Fourth Straight Win

Oak Harbor entered their tilt with Notre Dame Academy on Saturday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Morgan Lalonde made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Hannah Schimmoeller was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Haylee Robinson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

Oak Harbor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.

Oak Harbor's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Notre Dame Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Coming up, Oak Harbor will challenge Genoa Area at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Rockets are facing the Comets at the right time seeing as the Comets are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Notre Dame Academy, they will take on Central Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Fighting Irish have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
