Football Game Preview: Jefferson Silver Foxes vs. Chapin Huskies

Jefferson hasn't had much luck against Chapin recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Silver Foxes are taking a road trip to square off against the Huskies at 7:00 p.m. Jefferson has given up an average of 39.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Jefferson's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Canutillo last Friday. They had to suffer through a 59-0 loss at the hands of the Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Silver Foxes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1115th, while the Eagles are ranked 475th).

Meanwhile, Chapin had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They took down the Eagles 35-21.

Jefferson better keep an eye on Daveon Singleton. He was instrumental in Chapin's win, rushing for 214 yards and two scores while picking up 12.6 yards per carry, and also throwing for 89 yards and one touchdown on only five passes. Those 214 rushing yards gave Singleton a new career-high.

Chapin didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Canutillo to a completion percentage of just 38.9%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from five players: Dallas Tucker, Adam Rivera, Devon Harris, Leaf Dewitt, and Antonio Enriquez, who each logged one passes deflected. Chapin hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.44 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Chapin, their record is now 5-3.

Jefferson took a serious blow against Chapin when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 42-0. Can the Silver Foxes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
