Basketball Game Preview: San Jacinto Leadership Academy Lions vs. Santa Rosa Academy Rangers

The San Jacinto Leadership Academy Lions will venture away from home to square off against the Santa Rosa Academy Rangers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. San Jacinto Leadership Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.7 points per game this season.

Last Friday, San Jacinto Leadership Academy didn't have too much trouble with Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School as they won 62-45. The Lions pushed the score to 51-29 by the end of the third, a deficit the Mustangs cut but never quite recovered from.

San Jacinto Leadership Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jake Gagnepain, who posted 30 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Eric McWright, who earned 14 points and seven boards. The match was Gagnepain's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ezra Olguin, who had nine points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Santa Rosa Academy got the win against San Jacinto Valley Academy on Friday by a conclusive 65-44. The Rangers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 20 points or more this season.

San Jacinto Leadership Academy has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Santa Rosa Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 15-9.

San Jacinto Leadership Academy was taken down by Santa Rosa Academy 64-33 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Santa Rosa Academy's Austyn Hopkins, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 boards.
