Make it six blowout wins for the Trinity Lutheran Cougars this season. They put the hurt on Rising Sun with a sharp 57-37 win on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Trinity Lutheran has posted since December 7, 2023.
Trinity Lutheran was led to victory by Jordan Brewer and Marley Warren. Brewer scored 16 points along with five assists and five steals, while Warren scored 17 points along with four steals. Warren is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last four games she's played. Liza Froedge was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals and two blocks.
Defeat or not, Rising Sun got some senior leadership from Alyssa Simpson and Jenna Peelman. Simpson dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, while Peelman. scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Peelman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.
Trinity Lutheran has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for Rising Sun, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-10.
Trinity Lutheran will play host again and welcome Floyd Central, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rising Sun, they will head out on the road to face off against Jac-Cen-Del at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Jac-Cen-Del's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests.
