Basketball Game Preview: Noblesville Millers vs. Mt. Vernon Marauders

Noblesville has won three straight games at home, while Mt. Vernon has won three straight on the road dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Noblesville Millers will host the Mt. Vernon Marauders at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Noblesville is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Indiana's top teams: Guerin Catholic, who was ranked 15th at the time (Noblesville was ranked 22nd). Noblesville strolled past Guerin Catholic with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 54-39. 54 seems to be a good number for the Millers as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon got the win against Harrison on Saturday by a conclusive 59-37.

Mt. Vernon's win came from a few key players Noblesville will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tanner Teschendorf, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. That's the most rebounds he has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Ertel, who went 6 for 15 en route to 17 points.

Mt. Vernon is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Noblesville, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.

Everything came up roses for Noblesville against Mt. Vernon in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 57-26 win. Will Noblesville repeat their success, or does Mt. Vernon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
