Basketball Recap: Galt Comes Up Short

Galt lost against McClatchy back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Galt Warriors were outmatched by the McClatchy Lions and fell 95-27. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1309th, while the Lions are ranked 291st).

Anthony Arriaga -Rose was Galt's leading scorer, having posted nine points. Karlos Cornejo held things down on the boards with six rebounds. Cooper Cagle took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Eugene Castillo continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for McClatchy, going 9 of 15 on his way to 24 points and five steals. With that strong performance, Castillo is now averaging an impressive 15.9 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Kai Bradford, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points along with five assists and five boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Galt and nudges their season record down to 1-7. As for McClatchy, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Galt didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 73-47 defeat against Johnson on the 14th. As for McClatchy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 68-57 victory against Wood on the 14th.
