Preview: Tri-Central Trojans vs. Carroll Cougars
Tri-Central is 2-8 against Carroll since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Both teams will face off at 8:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Tri-Central's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
Tri-Central posted their biggest win since December 15, 2023 on Saturday. They blew past Anderson Prep Academy 67-41.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tri-Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Stetson Newcom, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Drake Ramseyer, who scored 20 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Carroll didn't have too much trouble with Pioneer on the road on Saturday as they won 59-44. The victory was just what Carroll needed coming off of a 68-35 defeat in their prior game.
Tri-Central's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Carroll, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Tri-Central was dealt a bruising 87-48 defeat at the hands of Carroll in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Tri-Central was down 44-22.
