Volleyball Recap: Newman Grove/St. Edward Comes Up Short

Newman Grove/St. Edward was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Central Valley Cougars. The Panthers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-12, 25-16.

Kailey Patzel paced Newman Grove/St. Edward's offense, picking up eight kills. Patzel got some help from Olivia Reardon and her three assists.

Newman Grove/St. Edward now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Central Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, Newman Grove/St. Edward and Central Valley will both be playing Grand Island Lutheran the next time they take the court. The Panthers will head out to face the Lightning at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Cougars will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
