Softball Recap: Navajo Prep Triumphs

Navajo Prep won the last time they faced Rehoboth Christian and things went their way on Thursday too. The Fightin Eagles skirted past the Lynx 14-13. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Fightin Eagles.

The team relied heavily on Isabella Yazzie, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leilani Wood, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Navajo Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .528 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Navajo Prep's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Rehoboth Christian, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Navajo Prep will venture away from home to square off against Newcomb at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Skyhawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.3 runs per game on average), something the Fightin Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rehoboth Christian, they will face off against Loving at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Lynx's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
