Basketball Recap: Riverside Piles Up the Points Against Rooted School

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Riverside on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Rooted School Royals out of the water with a 95-23 final score. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 64-11.

Riverside had a senior duo take command as Jase Bennett shot 75% from the field en route to 22 points along with seven assists and six rebounds and Ty Hopper almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards. Bennett is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 57% in the last six games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kameron Reese, who went 6-for-9 to rack up 15 points.

Riverside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Several Royals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Raven Moncrief, who posted seven points.

Riverside pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Riverside will face off against Indiana Math & Science Academy North at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rooted School, they will take on Central Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
