Basketball Recap: Al Brooks Key Part of Team Effort in Raptors Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Rich Township walked away with it. They walked away with a 74-67 win over the Lincoln-Way East Griffins on Friday. Given the Raptors' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Griffins are ranked 115th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rich Township's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Al Brooks, who shot 64% from the field en route to 18 points along with eight boards and three steals. Brooks is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nyshawn Turner, who went 6-for-9 to rack up 18 points and seven rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Rich Township and bumps their season record up to 22-8. As for Lincoln-Way East, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-12.

As of now, neither Rich Township nor Lincoln-Way East have any future games scheduled.
