Baseball Recap: East Ascension Takes a Loss

After flying high against Ruston on Saturday, East Ascension came back down to earth. The East Ascension Spartans fell just short of Ascension Christian by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 4-3 to the Spartans when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

East Ascension got a good showing from Cort Romero, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave Romero a new career-high in strikeouts (two).

At the plate, East Ascension saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landen Mire, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

East Ascension's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Ascension Christian, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 10-3.

Coming up, East Ascension will take on West Feliciana at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ascension Christian, they are taking a road trip to square off against Plaquemine at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
