Baseball Game Preview: Palisade Bulldogs vs. Grand Junction Central Warriors

The Palisade Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Grand Junction Central Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Palisade and four for Grand Junction Central.

Last Friday, Palisade didn't have quite enough to beat Fruita Monument and fell 2-1.

Palisade saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Howard, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Grand Junction Central had taken Durango down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Saturday. The Warriors came up short against the Demons, falling 12-5.

Parker Shahan was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Grand Junction Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Palisade, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Palisade's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Bulldogs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Grand Junction Central, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Palisade continue to outrun the ball?

Palisade took their victory against Grand Junction Central when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 13-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
