Softball Recap: Stoutland Comes Up Short

Stoutland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 14-8 to the Hartville Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 12-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Candice Barnwell and Lily Shearer stepped up to the plate in a big way. Barnwell went 3-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Shearer went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Allison Reeves also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Stoutland's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Hartville, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Stoutland will face off against rival Tuscumbia at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Hartville is set to take on their familiar foe Early at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The contest will give the Eagles their first taste of in-conference action this season.
