Volleyball Recap: Hemingford Comes Up Short

Hemingford was the 2-1 winner over Hyannis when they last played one another last Saturday, but their luck changed this time around. The Bobcats fell 2-0 to the Longhorns on Saturday. The Bobcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The 2-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by exactly three points. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-22.

Kylie Kumpf paced Hemingford's offense, picking up six kills. Kumpf got some help from Bailey Sellman and her ten assists. Finally, Alexis Stricker kept Hemingford's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Hyannis found their leader in sophomore Lainee Robertson, who had eight digs and three aces.

Hemingford now has a losing record of 14-15. As for Hyannis, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-19.

Hemingford wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Kimball on the 20th. As for Hyannis, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Hay Springs on the 18th.
