Volleyball Recap: John Jay Takes a Loss

John Jay and Shenendehowa squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but John Jay had to settle for second. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Plainsmen. The loss continues a trend for the Patriots in their meetings with the Plainsmen: they've now lost four in a row.

John Jay was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-19.

Their offense was headlined by Peyton Kellam and Bella Cabrera, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Margaret Bojarczuk and her ten assists. Kellam was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

John Jay's defeat dropped their record down to 29-8-3. As for Shenendehowa, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 35-9-3 record this season.

Coincidentally, John Jay and Shenendehowa will both be playing Lancaster the next time they take the court. The Plainsmen will host the Legends at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Patriots will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
