Volleyball Recap: Pineapple Cove Classical Academy Falls to Melbourne in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Pineapple Cove Classical Academy had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against the Melbourne Bulldogs, falling 3-0. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it eight in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-9, 25-9.

Despite the loss, Pineapple Cove Classical Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Yaneilys Aybar had 12 digs.

Leading Melbourne to victory were Kamryn Simcox and Roma Molinari. Simcox had nine digs, while Molinari had 11 assists. That's the most digs Simcox has posted over her last eight contests. Juliana Silvestri also deserves some recognition as she had her first kills of the season.

Melbourne pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Pineapple Cove Classical Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Merritt Island Christian on the 26th. As for Melbourne, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-1 loss against Harmony on the 27th.
