Softball Recap: Ridgewood Comes Up Short

After flying high against Streamwood on Thursday, Ridgewood came back down to earth. The Rebels fell just short of the ITW David Speer Academy Pride by a score of 6-5 on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rebels of the 10-9 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Megan Moe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Annabelle Yanora made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tessa Hanson, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

Ridgewood has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for ITW David Speer Academy, their record is now 14-7.

Looking ahead, Ridgewood will take on Riverside-Brookfield at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Rebels are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for ITW David Speer Academy, they will square off against Whitney Young at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
