Softball Recap: Silver Lake Regional Triumphs

While Silver Lake Regional's victory against Pembroke wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lakers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Titans a 1-0 shutout on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Lakers in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won nine in a row.

Kate Taylor made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Taylor wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Anna Kraft, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles. Zoey Varnum also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Silver Lake Regional's victory bumped their record up to 16-4-1. As for Pembroke, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
