Basketball Recap: Lowellville Takes a Loss

Lowellville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 76-64 to the Columbiana Clippers. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 760th, while the Clippers are ranked 312th).

Seth Struharik was his usual excellent self, going 13 of 26 to rack up 37 points for Columbiana. Struharik's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 20 points. Another player making a difference was Hunter Davanzo, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.

Lowellville's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Columbiana, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-2.

Looking ahead, Lowellville will take on Jackson-Milton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lowellville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Jackson-Milton likes a good challenge. As for Columbiana, they will face off against United at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbiana is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.6 points per game this season.
