Baseball Game Preview: Waubonsie Valley Warriors vs. Batavia Bulldogs

The Waubonsie Valley Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Batavia Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Waubonsie Valley put up the most runs they have all season on Wednesday. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over Geneva.

Ryan Lucas was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Connor Beren was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Batavia got the win against Knox Central on Thursday by a conclusive 12-2. The matchup marked the Bulldogs' most dominant win of the season so far.

Batavia's victory bumped their record up to 3-5-1. As for Waubonsie Valley, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.

Waubonsie Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Batavia in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
