Baseball Game Preview: Legion Collegiate Academy Lancers vs. Asheville Christian Academy Lions

The Legion Collegiate Academy Lancers are taking a road trip to face off against the Asheville Christian Academy Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Legion Collegiate Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.

Legion Collegiate Academy's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Parkwood as Legion Collegiate Academy made off with a 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lancers, who have now won three matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

On the hitting side, Justin Iannetto and Collin Tuttle did most of the damage at the plate: Iannetto scored two runs and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-4, while Tuttle scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance gave Tuttle a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Jackson Gordon, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Legion Collegiate Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Asheville Christian Academy lost 10-2 to Greensboro Day School last Friday.

Asheville Christian Academy's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Legion Collegiate Academy came up short against Asheville Christian Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2023, falling 4-1. Can Legion Collegiate Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
