Volleyball Recap: Barberton Takes a Loss

Barberton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Northwest Indians. The Magics were not able to make up for their defeat to the Indians from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-18, 25-4.

Molly Bittinger paced Barberton's offense, picking up four kills. Bittinger got some help from Katie Rodriguez and her seven assists. Rodriguez also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Trinity Crews, each putting up two.

Barberton's loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Northwest, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-12 record this season.

Barberton and Northwest could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Magics (ranked 709th) will meet Copley (ranked 166th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Northwest will challenge Triway at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (589 vs. 240).
