Baseball Recap: Streamwood Comes Up Short

Streamwood extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rolling Meadows Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Sabres of the 5-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

As for Rolling Meadows, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 13.2 runs this season.

For Rolling Meadows' part, the team relied heavily on Tony Romanacce, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Romanacce is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Josh Rappa, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Streamwood will face off against Bartlett at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The contest will give the Sabres their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Rolling Meadows, they will challenge Larkin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
