Basketball Game Preview: Lutheran-Northeast Eagles vs. Elkhorn Valley Falcons + How To Watch

The Lutheran-Northeast Eagles will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Elkhorn Valley Falcons at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Lutheran-Northeast is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Wisner-Pilger: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Eagles blew the Gators out of the water with a 60-28 final score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-9.

Lutheran-Northeast's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but D'Artagnan Taylor led the charge by shooting 40% from the field on his way to 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Lawless, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, Elkhorn Valley had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They breezed past Neligh-Oakdale to the tune of 67-26 on Friday. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Elkhorn Valley's win came from a few key players Lutheran-Northeast will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Logan Black, who went 9-for-12 to rack up 20 points and six steals. Those 20 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Korbin Werner, who shot 75% from the field en route to 12 points in addition to eight assists and eight rebounds.

Lutheran-Northeast couldn't quite get it done against Elkhorn Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 as they fell 54-44. Thankfully for the Eagles, Kellyn Ollendick (who almost dropped a double-double with 24 points and nine boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
