Recap: Independence vs. Potomac Falls Panthers
Independence struggled with assists on Thursday (the Potomac Falls Panthers had 15 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Independence took a 63-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Potomac Falls. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Independence in their matchups with Potomac Falls: they've now lost four in a row.
Independence lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Akash Udandrao, who scored 14 points. Grant Kunkle was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Potomac Falls' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from David Marshall, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Johnny Opiola, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Independence has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Potomac Falls, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 17-0.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Riverside the next time they take the court. Independence will host Riverside at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while Potomac Falls will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
