Volleyball Recap: Nogales Takes a Loss

Nogales was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Douglas Bulldogs. The Apaches were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Douglas scored at least 17 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-17, 25-21.

Douglas' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Janessa Sanchez, who had 20 digs and one assist. Sanchez has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Munoz, who had six digs and three aces.

Nogales' loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Douglas, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

Nogales wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Flowing Wells on the 7th. As for Douglas, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Amphitheater on the 6th.
